Built near Kłomino, on a hill called Psia Górka, based on wooden barracks originally used by the Labour Service troops and workers of the Gross Born military training ground. In 1939 the Dulag II E transit camp was established here, which from 1940 functioned as Oflag II D Gross Born (POW camp for officers). French officers, Polish officers and Warsaw insurgents were kept here. In January 1945, the prisoners of war were evacuated and set off on foot on a distance of about 700 km to Sandbostel. A large group of unfit officers and soldiers remained in the camp, and were liberated in early February 1945 by soldiers of the Second Polish Army. Among others, Leon Kruczkowski was in Oflag II D. Under the influence of his personal experiences in the camp, he wrote the book “The First Day of Freedom”.
