Established in the vicinity of the castle between 1875 and 1903, it stretches along Trzesiecko Lake. Situated on land reclaimed after the lake's water level was reduced, it features an enchanting rose garden, a concert shell, green squares, flowerbeds and walking alleys. There are around 2,000 trees over 100 years old. Among the most valuable specimens are 150-year-old pedunculate oaks. In addition to common trees such as beech, fir, European larch and hornbeam, there are also numerous exotic trees, e.g. Japanese katsura, blue spruce, eastern white pine, Douglas fir, thuja, fir, cypress and Canadian hemlock. Great German composer Richard Strauss succumbed to the charm of the park when he stopped briefly in the city in the summer of 1934 and was inspired to create the opera “Daphoe”.
